Due to fragile and rare plants and some potential hazards such as steep topography, deep water, and some thorny or poisonous plants, all children must be closely supervised and especially not allowed beyond trails and open mowed areas. No collection or disturbance of plants or wildlife can be allowed without specific permission. General Description: 50-acre privately owned arboretum in trust to Illinois College with over 2000 accessioned trees and shrubs, some dating back to 1850. This includes several champion trees and the largest APGA (American Public Gardens Association) certified oak research collection in the US, with over 800 oak specimens representing over 250 species.
