General Description:  1-mile (one-way) trail through multiple parks; follows Illinois River

OPAL’s Observations & Opinions:
This flat trail follows the Illinois River and provides river views and access as well as wetland views and access. There is also a nice view of the Peoria skyline toward the south and of the McCluggage Bridge toward the north. It can be muddy after a rain and sometimes requires small stream crossings. It is also known as Phase 2 of the Carl 'Bud' Schmitt River Trail of Illinois but the two trails are not near each other or connected. Some sections have wide boardwalks. Subject to Illinois River flooding. Know before you go.  Check Illinois River levels here.
