Jubilee Butterfly Garden
11817 West Jubilee College Road, Brimfield
The Jubilee Butterfly Garden is located in a beautiful outdoor space that is Jubilee College Historic Site in Brimfield, Illinois, founded by Bishop Philander Chase, the first Episcopal Bishop of Illinois, in 1840. The focus of the butterfly garden is to create a place where native butterfly species can thrive in a natural woodland setting utilizing native plants and shrubs.
Every summer our garden is visited by many native butterfly species. If you would like to learn how to start and maintain a native butterfly garden and learn more about the butterflies that inhabit the Central Midwest, join us as a volunteer. We meet every Thursday morning weather permitting, from 9 AM – 11 AM and we welcome all interested gardeners and naturalists.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Our volunteers meet at the garden on Thursday mornings from 9 AM – 11 AM beginning in April and continuing until October of each growing season. We ask volunteers to bring their own gardening tools and gloves. There are restrooms available on the premises.
The Citizens’ Group to Save Jubilee College is an active non-profit (501c3) organization which is seeking volunteers to help with tours of the College and other short-term projects to raise funds for the upkeep of the College building. They have been an organized group since 1970. If anyone has an interest in volunteering, please contact project chair, Patricia at
